Those interested in learning about transferring to Oakland University are invited to attend OU’s Transfer Student Open House from 4-6:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 23, in the Oakland Center on OU’s campus.
OU staff will be on hand to answer questions about general education requirements, transfer credit procedures, financial aid and more. Attendees will be able to explore OU’s nearly 120 undergraduate majors, and receive an immediate admission decision and credit evaluation.
"Transfer students are so important to the fabric of the student body here at OU,” said Director of Undergraduate Admissions Shane Lewis. “We are looking forward to celebrating National Transfer Student Week by helping more transfers find their path to Oakland through this event.”
To reserve a space at the open house, visit the registration page. For more information, contact Undergraduate Admissions at (248) 370-4149 or [email protected].
The event coincides with OU’s celebration of National Transfer Student Week, whose theme this year is "Unlocking Potential: Keys to the Transfer Journey."
Each year, Oakland University welcomes over 2,000 transfer students from community colleges and four-year schools, as well as military veterans, international students, and high school graduates who’ve earned college credits through Advanced Placement (AP) courses, International Baccalaureate (IB) programs or the College-Level Examination Program (CLEP).
OU transfer team members provide a variety of transfer-friendly services, including Transfer Student Information Sessions, Transfer Campus Tours and Transfer Student Open House events. To streamline the admission process for transfer students, OU also participates in statewide transfer agreements (such as MTA and MACRAO) and has over 40 articulation agreements with institutions primarily in Michigan, including the state’s community colleges.
In addition, a number of scholarships are available to OU transfer students, including the Presidential Transfer Award ($10,000), Phi Theta Kappa Award ($5,000), Talented Transfer Award ($2,000), in addition to the need-based OU Transfer Grant ($4,000).
